(Summary description)As we all know, the ABS anti-lock brake system can improve the safety of emergency braking of vehicles. Vehicles without ABS are prone to tire lock during emergency braking, and the vehicle will have direction deviation and cannot steer to avoid danger, which will cause serious accident. Therefore, in the 20th century when electronic technology developed rapidly, ABS devices began to develop on a large scale and were equipped on civilian vehicles, becoming the most effective safety technology after seat belts.

Information
As we all know, the ABS anti-lock brake system can improve the safety of emergency braking of vehicles.
Now, ABS system has already become the standard configuration of modern cars, it can help the driver to better control the vehicle. The so-called ABS is the abbreviation of "antilock brake system". Its role is to control the braking force of the brake caliper when the vehicle is braking, so that the tire is not locked and loses its grip. A certain slip rate state to ensure that the tire can obtain the maximum ground adhesion.
What are the benefits of the ABS anti-lock brake system? Does it have disadvantages
In fact, if the tire is completely locked by the braking force, it will lose the best grip, so it is the best choice to find the balance between rolling and slipping. On vehicles not equipped with the ABS system, to avoid vehicle slippage due to wheel lockup, you need to manually step on and relax the pedals, but this is not suitable for most ordinary drivers. The ABS system uses electronically controlled ABS pumps to operate the braking force distribution, which can achieve dozens of "point brakes" operations per second. Not only is the operation speed faster, but it is also more accurate, which can keep the tires at a reasonable level. The skid range brings better braking effect.
Under the function of ABS system, the driver does not need to consider the operation problem when facing an emergency situation, just press the brake pedal as far as it will go. Through the operation of ABS, the vehicle can avoid losing control of the direction during emergency braking, and avoid the risk of skidding. While providing safer braking performance, it can also reduce the wear on the braking system and tires, thereby extending its service life.
However, it should be noted that although the ABS anti-lock brake system can provide better braking performance and safety, it also has its own limitations. For example, ABS does not allow the vehicle to violate physical laws. It does not improve the braking efficiency of the vehicle, but only allows the vehicle to perform as close to the limit as possible. The final braking performance is still affected by the vehicle's own braking system and tires. limits. In addition, on smooth, sandy, and snowy roads, the ABS system is more likely to be triggered, which in turn will reduce braking performance.
Since the ABS brake antilock system is so important, how does it work?
On vehicles with ABS anti-lock braking system, four wheels will be equipped with wheel speed sensors to collect data, and the ABS controller will judge the vehicle's movement status based on the signals of these wheel speed sensors. Under normal driving conditions, the pipelines between the master cylinder of the brake system and each caliper cylinder are connected. All brake pressure will be transmitted as the brake pedal moves, and the braking process without the ABS system the same.
When will ABS work? When the vehicle is performing emergency braking, the ABS controller monitors the wheel speed signal input by the wheel speed sensor, and enters the intervention state when it is determined that there is a tendency to lock. During the intervention, the ABS controller will operate the relevant components to continuously cut off and communicate with the brake fluid pipeline, so as to realize the "reducing-increasing-reducing" cyclic process of the braking force, so as to maintain the wheels tending to lock to a certain level. The range of slip ratio, so as to ensure that the tires can get the best grip, while allowing the vehicle to perform normal steering actions. Because the system works mechanically, when the ABS starts to intervene, it can clearly hear the working noise, and the brake pedal will also transfer the vibration to the driver's feet through the rebound force.
It should be noted that the ABS system will only enter the ready state after exceeding a certain vehicle speed, and when the speed is reduced to a certain range after braking, the ABS system will also automatically stop working and return to the normal state. When the speed of the vehicle is low, whether the wheels are locked or not has a small impact on the final braking performance. On the contrary, the tires in the locked state can stop the vehicle faster.
Recommended use: For today's modern vehicles, the ABS anti-lock brake system has already become a standard configuration, and even many models have been equipped with higher-level ESP body dynamic stabilization systems. Therefore, in most cases, we don't need to consider whether there will be locking or slipping during emergency braking. We only need to press the brake pedal as far as it will go, and let the vehicle's ABS system help us handle the wheel locking problem.
